I'm Dom, also known as PeriBay and I'm the founder of Shade Black. I'm a graphic designer and illustrator by trade and I use my skills in all facets of my hobbies. I have one game published and many more in the works, and a few webcomic series in the works! I love Avatar: The Last Airbender, anime, cosplay, and cozy games, and you will always see me with food. I hope to leave a legacy of art and growth behind.
Our Story
Shade Black was created out of necessity. Over the course of the 2020 global pandemic, there was a massive rise in online activity and a new generation of content creators was born. However, Black content creators were (and still are) often overlook, and their ideas and talent were walked over by others. The final straw was when a certain streaming giant didn't present their Black streamers on the top of the front page during Black History Month. On top of that, I have noticed that a lot of Black content creators who had "made it", did nothing to help uplift and support smaller creators. You had to meet a quota before anyone would give you the time of day so many extremely talented creators get passed by. Someone needed to create something that would promote Black content creators in all spaces. But promoting creators isn't enough, people need resources and help, and that's when Shade Black was born. A website to not only promote but to provide resources in the form of tutorials, helpful articles, and budget-friendly assets.
